The Power of Spoken & Unspoken Words

6/29/2014

Comments

One must choose their words carefully just as a florist chooses the best flowers to create a bouquet.  One must be careful of their unspoken words. The bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit” (NKJV). Whatever you profess in the atmosphere is what will come to pass.  If you say you are struggling, then you will struggle.  If you say you are broke, then you will be broke.  If you say you are barely making it, then you will barely make it.  Be careful of the junk you speak over your life. Even when you are in the midst of calamity, speak life and blessings over yourself.  You have repeat scriptures such as:

Romans 8:37 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (NKJV).

Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (NKJV).

Psalm 37:25 “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread” (NKJV).

“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water” (KJV) John 7:38.

Speak life over yourself and only put yourself around people who bring positive energy into your life.  Negative people are toxic people.  Toxicities can kill you and your spirit.

Dear God,

Help me to speak life over my situations and not death! God guide mouth to speak blessings and not curses.  I pray for vocabulary that is full of blessings and life! Thank you Father for shaping and molding me daily to become a better servant of yours.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen!

Shall we dance?

6/22/2014

Comments

Have you given God praise today? Have you worshiped God today?  OR Are you too preoccupied and consumed with your life to create time for you and God?  Maybe there is someone or something hindering you from praising and worshiping God.

Praise and Worship should be a vital part of our lives. It is a time to admire, respect, and meet God in a special way. In II Samuel 6:1-23, verse 14 says, “And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.”  This scripture invites us to dance and worship before Lord to celebrate His goodness.

There’s a lot of backdrop to this story.  The construction of the Temple could not be started until the Ark arrived in Jerusalem. Having the Ark in Jerusalem united the various tribes of Israel and Judah. The Ark arrived and David celebrated.

David danced so rigid that he came out of his clothes. The scripture says that David’s wife, Michal, despised him. However, David expressed to Michal that he danced before the Lord.  Michal was trying to hinder David’s love for the Lord, but he did not allow that to happen.  Michal loved David, but she had no love for the Ark of God. David made it clear that he was not ashamed of his dancing.

God wants us to dance with such as David did.  He is asking us, “Shall we dance?” Are you ashamed to dance for God?  Read Luke 9:26; Matthew 10:32; and Mark 8:38 and the Word will explain to you why you should not be ashamed to dance before the Lord.

God wants us to dance in His name.  The scripture tells us God inhabits the praises of His people.

Dear God,

I want to dance with you. I want to worship and adore you even in the midst of my trials. God when I praise and worship you, I am announcing to You and the world your presence in my life. God I want my worship to be real and true to you because you love me in spite of my shortcomings.

In Jesus Name,

Amen

A Father's Love

A Father’s Love….

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosover believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (KJV).

God is such a GREAT Father! He gave up his on only Son to give us eternal life.  If God gave up his only begotten Son for us, why do we continue to hurt him with our sinful acts? These twenty-five words are powerful.

God gave up his Son, but yet we fell to give him our time by attending Church School, reading the Bible daily, attending Prayer Service or Bible Study.  We will find every excuse to why we cannot attend any of the following activities at church.  “It’s too early.” “That’s my only day off.” “Church School starts too early.”  We make all kind of excuses, but our Father made no excuse to give up his only Son for us to have eternal life. It was God’s grace that allowed him to give up his only Son.

We must have the Agape love for God.  This love is selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional love.  This is the highest type of love in the Bible.   Among Christians, Agape came to mean the unearned love God had for people - a love so great that God was willing to send his only begotten Son to suffer and die on our behalf.

So as we celebrate Father’s Day, let’s remember our Heavenly Father.  What gift did you give the Heavenly Father today? Did you pay your tithes or offering today? Did you attend church today? Did you worship your Heavenly Father in spirit and truth?  Did you thank him for waking you up this morning?

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for being a Father who forgives me daily. I thank you for sacrificing your only Son for me.  God it was your Grace that gave the Gift for me to have your Glory! I thank you and praise your name!

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen!

God turned my trials into triump

Romans 8: 28-39

This is one of the most quoted bible verses in the bible. Roman 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (KJV). There is a great chance you have heard this verse and taken comfort in it. You may have shared its truth with another Christian going through a difficult time.

All things—not some things, not most things, but ALL things will work out for the good of those who trust in the Lord.  I am not just talking about what we consider as blessings, but all things include the aches and pains, disappointments and difficulties, or the tears and troubles of this sinful world. God uses his power and wisdom to turn our trials into triumph.
  1.  So you did not get the car in April; it was for your good because the interest rate dropped 2% and this month and you were approved for a 4% interest rate instead of a 6%.
  2.  So you did not get the job last year; it was for your good because the company downside this year and everyone was laid off.
  3. So you did not get the house; it was for your good because the neighborhood flooded during the rain storm last weekend and the houses were destroyed.
  4. So the relationship did not last; it was for your good because you found out later he has four kids, by four different women, he has lost his job, and behind on child support.
As we look at this familiar passage of scripture in Romans 8, I want to remind you of the incredible lengths to which God will go in order to keep us. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”(KJV).

Just reflect over your life and think about some things you desired, but God said, “NO”.  In His NO, he was protecting and sustaining you from dangers seen and unseen. I am so glad that God holds the world in his hands.

Dear God,

Thank you for keeping a hedge of protection around me. I am so glad you are all knowing and you protect me daily with grace and mercy.
In Jesus name,
Amen!

Have you "texted" God?

6/1/2014

Comments

Vine, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Quick Chat, Text Messages, YouTube, and many others have become the way many of us communicate with the world.  We now have the capability to read the Bible on our cell phones or any other electronic device. We spend so much time using social network to communicate or research information.  When one is not familiar with something, we will use a search engine to research the information.

We text each other dinner plans, meeting spots, or to simply check on one another.  We text everyone else, but have we “texted” God?  In John 1:1 the scripture states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”(KJV). How often do we read our bibles to study his word? How often do we turn off the cell phones, the computers, or the electronic notebooks to be in God’s presence?   We all are guilty of not studying the word as much as we should. Starting today, challenge yourself to read God’s word more by first turning off all of the distractions that keep you from focusing on the omnipotent one , omniscient one, and all-Powerful One. The scriptures says “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”(2 Timothy 2:15, KJV).

Dear God, Please forgive me for not reading and studying your word when I have the time to.  God, please help me to focus more on you and not of the worldly things that distract and kidnap my attention. Lord, continue to guide and direct me as I travel through this journey of life. God, my desire is to be closer to you. I pray this prayer in Jesus name. Amen!
