Whose approval are you seeking?

​​1 Thessalonians 2:4, NLT “Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.”

In today’s society, social media has conditioned our minds to seek validation from the amount of “likes” or “hearts” we receive from an online post. Whether it is Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other online service, we seek attention and validation from people we know and do not know. Although posting online is a way of sharing information, receiving “likes” or validation is not a social media problem, but a flesh problem. There’s nothing wrong with being recognized and honored by man. However, we must remember God’s approval is the most important approval we should be seeking.

Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for seeking man’s approval when Your approval is the most significant approval of my life.
