Matthew 7:24-27 (NKJV)
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” Is the foundation of your life built on the Rock (Jesus) or is it built on people or things? If your foundation is built on people or things, then your foundation is built on shaky grounds. People will let you down and things will fade away. The bible instructs us in Matthew 6:19,"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal”(NIV). Buying a new car because someone else has a new car or buying a new house because someone else bought a new house is having a shaky foundation. When people self-efficacy and self-esteem is built around things and people, their lives will fall apart when they can no longer afford those things or when those people walk out their lives. Keeping up with the Joneses is living on a shaky foundation. I am so glad that Jesus is my rock. As the hymn writer wrote, “My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand.” Matthew 16:18 “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it (NIV)”. Heavenly Father, All I need is You! My foundation is built on the Rock of Jesus! In Jesus Name, Amen. ©2016 by Edwina Perrin. All rights reserved. |
