Luke 6:38
“Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”(NKJV). Giving is an attribute that we all possess. Often times, when we think about giving, we think of it from the monetary sense. However, money is not the only thing we have to give. We have love, prayers, hugs, time, talents, kindness, and compassion to give as well. Many times giving a hug to someone enlightens there day better than we can ever imagine or comprehend. Sometimes a simple phone call or text will brighten a person’s day. Visiting the nursing home or running errands for someone who may not be able to perform the task is a form of giving. Mailing a card to let someone know you are thinking about them is giving as well. Why should one give? Well, it is our duty to give and God receives the glory when we give. Remember, God gave his only begotten son to us so we could have eternal life. The scripture states “give and it will be given to you… for the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you”. So whatever gifts you give know that God will give it back to you. The scripture says (Act 20:35), “it is better to give than receive”. During the course of the week, ask God what does he want you to give? After you ask God, listen to his answer. Giving in his name opens up the door for great quantities of blessings. Those blessings may be better health, an improvement in your finances, tranquility in your household, or blessings in your ministry. There are so many ways God can bless you. Today, be a giver, and watch God! God loves a cheerful giver. Heavenly Father, I want to be a better giver. Whatever you ask me to give; I am a willing and waiting vessel to obey your command. God you give to me daily and I give you praises for what you give to me. God, help me to recognize that it is not always money that I have to give, but I have many other talents to share as a giver.
