Luke 5:16 “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed” (NIV).
Text messages, emails, phone calls, to-do-lists, career, child (ren), spouse, and ministry all are screaming for your attention. What’s for dinner? Did you pick up my dry cleaning? Did you pay the water bill? Did you call the maintenance man? Where are my shoes? Did you sign my letter for school? Everyone needs and wants your support; however they never seem to support you when you need it. O-V-E-R-W-H-E-L-M by life demands. Have you ever been there? Have you ever been so exhausted that your eyes burned when you laid down to go to sleep? Family members and friends do not understand why you are not answering the phone or not returning text messages. They think you are acting funny. However, you cannot even put in words what is going on. They do not understand you need to be alone. They do not understand that you just need to be with Jesus. All you want to do is clear your mind and rest in the bosom of Jesus. Text messages and phone calls are not where you can invest energy at the moment. Yet, you are told you are acting funny. They simply do not understand. In the scripture, Jesus often withdrew himself from everyone to spend time with God and pray. It does not matter where you go to be alone with God you just need to obtain a place. Get in a place where there are no distractions. This means turn the phone and TV off. When you become overwhelm, find a secluded place to spend time with God. God is waiting to spend time with you. Scripture to Read: Habakkuk 2:1, Matthew 6:6, and Matthew 6:31-32 Heavenly Father, I just need to be with you. I need to steal away. I just want to be with you and only you. I need you right now!
