Vine, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Quick Chat, Text Messages, YouTube, and many others have become the way many of us communicate with the world. We now have the capability to read the Bible on our cell phones or any other electronic device. We spend so much time using social network to communicate or research information. When one is not familiar with something, we will use a search engine to research the information. We text each other dinner plans, meeting spots, or to simply check on one another. We text everyone else, but have we “texted” God? In John 1:1 the scripture states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”(KJV). How often do we read our bibles to study his word? How often do we turn off the cell phones, the computers, or the electronic notebooks to be in God’s presence? We all are guilty of not studying the word as much as we should. Starting today, challenge yourself to read God’s word more by first turning off all of the distractions that keep you from focusing on the omnipotent one , omniscient one, and all-Powerful One. The scriptures says “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”(2 Timothy 2:15, KJV). Dear God, Please forgive me for not reading and studying your word when I have the time to. God, please help me to focus more on you and not of the worldly things that distract and kidnap my attention. Lord, continue to guide and direct me as I travel through this journey of life. God, my desire is to be closer to you. I pray this prayer in Jesus name. Amen! Copyrighted 2014 by Edwina D. Perrin. All rights reserved. |
