Enough is Enough!
Mark 11:15-18 In this particular scripture text, Jesus drove the buyers, sellers, and money changers out of the temple. Can you imagine Jesus flipping over the tables? These people were using the temple as a market to sell items. The temple was meant to be use as a house of prayer. With all of the selling and buying going on, people had forgotten about worshiping and praying in the temple. Just as today in the church. We become distracted by everything and forget how to worship and pray. For example, we are more worried about the website than worship, the program instead of prayer, or the packed pews instead of praise. The planning of a program will become more important than the worship and praise during the program. That’s because we get in our flesh that this program has to be a success, instead seeking God first and allowing him to order our steps. This is not just in the church, but in our lives. We become distracted with the carpool, the basketball games, the football games, and any other extracurricular activity and lose focus on God. We do not even sit down as a family any more to read scripture or pray together. We are always on the go! Well, enough is enough; it is time for us to put our focus back on God. He is the creator of the heaven and earth. This is his world and yet we often lose focus. It is time for us to reconnect with our Lord and Savior. We have to remember he created us to worship and adore him. In His word, he said if we did not cry out for him, the rocks would. I do not want a rock crying out for me because God has been too good to me. Heavenly Father, Forgive me for losing focus of You. When I look back over my life and see all what God has done for me, I have no reason to lose focus. I must keep my mind stayed on Him. You are the great I am and the everlasting one. Lord, I thank you. In Jesus’ name, Amen! ©2014 by Edwina Perrin. All rights reserved. |
