Broken Levees!
Psalm 115:11 “You who fear him, trust in the Lord, he is their help and shield” (NIV). During 2005, one of the contributing factors to the flooding in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, were the failure of the levees. Levees are embankments that regulate water levels to prevent rivers from flooding. It is a man-made wall designed by engineers. If the levees break, then there is a great possibility the river will flood and cause many problems. The aftermath of a flood can be devastating. Sometimes during a flood, people lose their homes, lives, family members, and other valuable things. Have you ever had your levees to break? Have you ever felt as if your world was crumbling down? Just as the levees in New Orleans broke sometimes our levees break. Trials, tribulations, or the death of a love one can cause one to feel broken and defeated. When our levees break, we often lose our joy, peace, and aspirations. You cry tears in the midnight hour wondering if God sees your pain. You lose sleep because you are pacing the floor praying for God to step in and rebuild your levees and restore your walls. Psalm 115 tells us to trust in the Lord because He is our help and shield. The scripture also says that our God never sleeps nor slumbers. Therefore, you do not have to lose any sleep because God never leaves us or forsake us. Therefore, trust that God is with you at all times. Heavenly Father, I thank you for always being here when I need you. I am so glad you are a God that never sleeps. Thank you for the many blessings you have stored upon my family. God, in You I find a strong tower and a solid rock. God, I give you all the glory and honor.
