Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (KJV).
2 Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us” (KJV). We make plans daily! Plans to go on vacation, plans to attend a certain college, and plans to pursue dreams and aspirations for our future. We often plan our future, but when our plans fail we become upset with God. We fail to realize that our plans are not God’s plans. God’s plans are not laid out; they are not scheduled, nor written down. God’s ultimate plan is for us to seek Him and give Him glory in all we do. Many times we plan in our power instead of God’s power. The scripture says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thine ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path” (KJV). Just because our plans failed does not mean God does not love us. It means He does love us and He is protecting us from harm we are not able to see. Let me share a story. I knew a young lady that desired to work for a particular company, but every time she applied for a job she was rejected by the company. Well, ten years later, the company she once pursued closed their doors and everyone lost their job. The young lady plans were to work for the company. However, God plans were to protect her from losing her job. He knew the company would close their doors, therefore He did not allow her to obtain a job with the company. He directed a path that would be secure for her. In all the rejections the young lady received, it worked out for her good. She was not a part of the company closing. What we must understand that God keeps His Promises. He promises to take care of us and provide for us. In Numbers 23:19, it states that God is not a man that shall lie. Therefore, when it does not look good, stand still and watch God. God holds the world in his hand. He can do the impossible with any situation. Heavenly Father, I worship and adore you. God, keep me grounded with my mind stayed on you. Although the situation may not look good, I must trust you when I cannot trace you. I will seek you first in all my plans, goals, and endeavors because you are the sovereign one. In Jesus’ Name, Amen ©2014 by Edwina Perrin. All rights reserved. Enough is Enough!
Mark 11:15-18 In this particular scripture text, Jesus drove the buyers, sellers, and money changers out of the temple. Can you imagine Jesus flipping over the tables? These people were using the temple as a market to sell items. The temple was meant to be use as a house of prayer. With all of the selling and buying going on, people had forgotten about worshiping and praying in the temple. Just as today in the church. We become distracted by everything and forget how to worship and pray. For example, we are more worried about the website than worship, the program instead of prayer, or the packed pews instead of praise. The planning of a program will become more important than the worship and praise during the program. That’s because we get in our flesh that this program has to be a success, instead seeking God first and allowing him to order our steps. This is not just in the church, but in our lives. We become distracted with the carpool, the basketball games, the football games, and any other extracurricular activity and lose focus on God. We do not even sit down as a family any more to read scripture or pray together. We are always on the go! Well, enough is enough; it is time for us to put our focus back on God. He is the creator of the heaven and earth. This is his world and yet we often lose focus. It is time for us to reconnect with our Lord and Savior. We have to remember he created us to worship and adore him. In His word, he said if we did not cry out for him, the rocks would. I do not want a rock crying out for me because God has been too good to me. Heavenly Father, Forgive me for losing focus of You. When I look back over my life and see all what God has done for me, I have no reason to lose focus. I must keep my mind stayed on Him. You are the great I am and the everlasting one. Lord, I thank you. In Jesus’ name, Amen! ©2014 by Edwina Perrin. All rights reserved. Luke 6:38
“Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”(NKJV). Giving is an attribute that we all possess. Often times, when we think about giving, we think of it from the monetary sense. However, money is not the only thing we have to give. We have love, prayers, hugs, time, talents, kindness, and compassion to give as well. Many times giving a hug to someone enlightens there day better than we can ever imagine or comprehend. Sometimes a simple phone call or text will brighten a person’s day. Visiting the nursing home or running errands for someone who may not be able to perform the task is a form of giving. Mailing a card to let someone know you are thinking about them is giving as well. Why should one give? Well, it is our duty to give and God receives the glory when we give. Remember, God gave his only begotten son to us so we could have eternal life. The scripture states “give and it will be given to you… for the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you”. So whatever gifts you give know that God will give it back to you. The scripture says (Act 20:35), “it is better to give than receive”. During the course of the week, ask God what does he want you to give? After you ask God, listen to his answer. Giving in his name opens up the door for great quantities of blessings. Those blessings may be better health, an improvement in your finances, tranquility in your household, or blessings in your ministry. There are so many ways God can bless you. Today, be a giver, and watch God! God loves a cheerful giver. Heavenly Father, I want to be a better giver. Whatever you ask me to give; I am a willing and waiting vessel to obey your command. God you give to me daily and I give you praises for what you give to me. God, help me to recognize that it is not always money that I have to give, but I have many other talents to share as a giver. Scripture Reading: Luke 1:26-38 In this text, Gabriel comes to tell Mary that she has been shown favor by God to be impregnated with the Messiah, Jesus, the Wonderful Counselor, the Prince of Peace. In the beginning, Mary had a hard time believing Gabriel. Mary actually was frightened by the appearance of Gabriel. Mary was a virgin and was not married. Mary was from Nazareth. This is a town known for their sins. Mary was not special in anyway, but God used Mary for his plans. God chose Mary to bring forth Jesus, the risen Savior. The point of this text is let you know that God can use anyone he wants to as a part of his plan. His ultimate plan is to get the GLORY. He has no respectable person. In verse 37 (KJV), “For with God nothing shall be impossible” and we know that to be the gospel. God can use the alcoholic, whoremonger, liar, robber, or whomever to spread the good news. He uses the ones who will humble him and respect His word. Heavenly Father, We thank you for your favor. We thank you for sending your favor to the one who believes and worships you. God help us to have the Mary spirit to be a willing vessel to carry out your plan for you to get the glory. In Jesus’s Name, Amen! ©2014 by Edwina Perrin. All rights reserved. |
