Psalm 139:13-15 (NIV)
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Recently, I colored my hair in search of a “new” look. As I left the hair salon, I felt as if I was the prettiest woman on the Earth. However, as I walked through the door, my son asked me what is with the “new” look. He said it is pretty, but you were already beautiful. As the words came out of his mouth, God begin to use him to minister to me. Every morning, I say to myself, “Everything God created is good, and I… look good”. As my son ministered to me, I was wondering if I believe the statement I quoted every morning. God created us! The Almighty One! 1 Samuel 17:7 says that man looks at the outer appearance, but God looks at the heart. God is not worried about our outer appearance. He is concern with our hearts. God created us just like he wanted to create us. You are God’s grand masterpiece! His precious creative design! Dear God, Daily, I must remember that I am yours and that you created me. Whatever you created is marvelously made. Because I love you, I must love myself. In Jesus Name, Amen! Copyrighted 2014 by Edwina D. Perrin. All rights reserved. “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” “Let’s go! Hurry! Hurry up! Stop wasting time! I am running late! We have to go!” We all are guilty of using these statements when we are rushing or perhaps on a “mission”. We have let society and our lifestyles encourage us to rush at every task we have to complete. The rushing causes bad attitudes, unnecessary stress, bitterness, and unnecessary health problems. Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will” (NIV). I am guilty of rushing and hurrying to accomplish a goal or completing a task. However, I thank God for whispering in my ear one day. He said, “Since you will not slow down, I am going to lay you down”. One weekend, I could not get out the bed because I was sick with the Flu. The sickness came out of nowhere. I had no prior symptoms. As I laid in my bed sick, God began to minister to me with the scripture from Psalm 46:10 and the Psalm 23. He began to instruct me to “Stop, Look, & Listen.” · Stop rushing and begin to bask in my glorious work I have done in your life. · Look at the beautiful Earth I created · Listen for my voice “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27 NIV). We can no longer allow the spirit of rushing dominate our lives. We must claim dominion and authority over that stronghold. When we find ourselves rushing and hurrying, Stop, Look, & Listen. Dear God, When I begin to rush and hurry to complete tasks, touch my spirit to slow me down. I just want to be closer to you, therefore removed the spirit of rushing because I want to enjoy Your presence. In Jesus Name, Amen Copyrighted 2014 by Edwina D. Perrin. All rights reserved. 12 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13 “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed (NIV). We, as Americans, spend millions of dollars to become physically fit. We join expensive gyms, fitness centers; retain personal trainers and dieticians, and commit to a personal plan to become physically fit. Many people even invest money in cosmetic surgeries to enhance their physical features. We spend hours and hours trying to lose weight to look perfect. However, how much are we investing to become Spiritual Fit? Are we tithing? Are we attending Bible Study? Are we attending Prayer Service? Have we sold out to God just like we have sold out to become physically fit? Do we meditate and spend time with God? Do we have a relationship with God? Being physically fit is great, but being spiritually fit is amazing. God’s amazing grace will set you free from the chains of sins and diabolical attacks that come against you. The scripture says (Isaiah 54:17), “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. That is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord (NKJV). When you have a relationship with God, the weapon might form, but it will not prosper. Your weapons are overcome by the blood of the Lamb and no diabolical assignment can overtake you. Being spiritual fit will allow you stand against the wiles of the enemy (Ephesians 6:11). If you want to become Spiritually Fit, develop a relationship with God and watch the mighty works God will do in your life. Here are ten suggestions to become Spiritually Fit: A. Pray continuously B. Study the word C. Show Gratitude D. Live life to the fullest in-spite of what may or may not be going on E. Show love and compassion for people you come in contact with F. Attend Bible Study/Prayer Service G. Worship God H. Adore God I. Praise Him J. Let you attitudes and actions be Christ-like Dear God, I thank you for being an AWESOME God. I strive daily to walk closer with you. God, create in me a clean heart and transform me to be Spiritually Fit to stand firm against any attack the enemy tries to throw at me. I claim dominion and authority in your name over any assignment that tries to frustrate me. I thank you God. It is in Jesus name I pray. Amen! Copyrighted 2014 by Edwina D. Perrin. 8 "Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods". 9"But now that you know God--or rather are known by God--how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again"? (NIV). Do you remember your life before God entered into your heart? How did you feel? Were you empty? Were you angry, unhappy, depressed, oppressed, or had a mean spirit? Prior to God entering into my life, I had a mean spirit that I dealt with inside of me. I was so mean, that during my ninth grade year, I did not verbally communicate with my parents because I was upset with them. I wrote notes to communicate or shared with my younger brother what I needed communicated to my parents. My grandmother and mother have shared with me that even as a toddler I would hold my breath if I was upset with someone. Thank God for deliverance because I was a slave to a spirit of holding grudges or nonverbal communications. I was in captivity beyond my control, because I could be in a person's presence that I did not like and would not speak or talk to them. This week I had to ask God help me to not go back to the familiarity of not speaking or holding a grudge against someone who had upset me. I know God is a deliverer because today I saw that person and politely said, "Good morning!" I thank God for releasing those chains of holding grudges and not speaking to people. Familiarity sometimes seems to be the best route to take. However, going back to those places only add misery, loneliness, bitterness, and bondage. Paul is telling the Galatians not to return to those old ways, but to run towards Jesus. Jesus the one who died for our sins. Release those chains and embrace God's grace and mercy. Psalm 51:10 says "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me" (ESV). Dear God, Forgive me for even considering to return to my old ways. Lord, I should be running, sprinting, leaping towards you and instead of going backwards. Lord, cleanse me, wash me, and purify me because I want to get to Heaven. In Jesus Name, Amen!
