Praise and Worship should be a vital part of our lives. It is a time to admire, respect, and meet God in a special way. In II Samuel 6:1-23, verse 14 says, “And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.” This scripture invites us to dance and worship before Lord to celebrate His goodness.
There’s a lot of backdrop to this story. The construction of the Temple could not be started until the Ark arrived in Jerusalem. Having the Ark in Jerusalem united the various tribes of Israel and Judah. The Ark arrived and David celebrated.
David danced so rigid that he came out of his clothes. The scripture says that David’s wife, Michal, despised him. However, David expressed to Michal that he danced before the Lord. Michal was trying to hinder David’s love for the Lord, but he did not allow that to happen. Michal loved David, but she had no love for the Ark of God. David made it clear that he was not ashamed of his dancing.
God wants us to dance with such as David did. He is asking us, “Shall we dance?” Are you ashamed to dance for God? Read Luke 9:26; Matthew 10:32; and Mark 8:38 and the Word will explain to you why you should not be ashamed to dance before the Lord.
God wants us to dance in His name. The scripture tells us God inhabits the praises of His people.
I want to dance with you. I want to worship and adore you even in the midst of my trials. God when I praise and worship you, I am announcing to You and the world your presence in my life. God I want my worship to be real and true to you because you love me in spite of my shortcomings.
In Jesus Name,
