A Heart of Humility
Romans 12:3 “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you” (NIV).
It is great to have a healthy self-esteem because some of us do not think enough of ourselves. However, some of us overestimate ourselves. People who overestimate themselves have identity problems and they are masking insecurities. People who think highly of themselves do not know their identity in Christ.
In society, we tend to measure ourselves by our worldly possessions, success, or achievements. Measuring yourself by those things can cause you to think too much about your worth and not the blessings and the favor God has provided for you. Without God we cannot do anything or have anything. Give God the glory the next time He blesses you or show you favor in a circumstance. Everything belongs to Him anyway!
Remind me daily that You are my Jehovah-Jireh, My Provider, and that everything belongs to You. God, I thank You for every blessing You have provided and the ones You are going to provide. Help me to remain humble when receiving Your blessings and favor for Your name sakes.
In the magnificent name of Jesus,
